About Me
Hi! I’m Sonja Johnson, a junior at Marquette University studying Marketing & International Business. I’m passionate about consumer engagement and brand strategy, and I love finding creative ways to help brands connect with people and customers in meaningful ways.

I currently work as a lifeguard at Marquette while balancing my studies. Last summer, I was Director of Operations - Waterfront at the YMCA, leading a team, coordinating activities, and collaborating with program directors—an experience that strengthened my leadership and problem-solving skills.
Through coursework and hands-on projects, I’ve built skills in strategic planning, digital marketing, and data analysis. While studying abroad in Madrid, I developed a strategic marketing plan to rebrand a U.S. product for a new market, covering research, competition analysis, cost strategy, and the LEAN canvas model. I’m currently working on a digital marketing and consulting plan to promote the Milwaukee Theatre District. Additionally, I’m pursuing certifications in HubSpot Inbound Marketing and Google Analytics.
I thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and have a strong understanding of marketing principles, digital media, and problem-solving. Communication and adaptability are key strengths, along with a passion for creativity and innovation.

Outside of school and work, I love being outdoors, mentoring young leaders, and staying up-to-date with marketing trends. Last semester, I studied abroad in Spain, where I got to experience a new culture while learning about global business. It pushed me to adapt, see things from different perspectives, and improve my communication skills—things that will definitely stick with me in both life and work. Originally from Minneapolis, I’m always looking to connect and learn.
